CAFE DES ARTISTE
Concept
Cafe des Artistes has a historical story by way of back round; artists lived and worked in the buildings in the same block as Cafe Des Artistes sometime in the early 20th century.
The restaurant became a meeting point between the creative people, where they could eat and talk for hours. It brings elements of the past into the present. Cafe Des Artistes uses its past history for its exclusive image and identity so that it is made apparent to their existing and future customers. The art‚ culture and historical back round is what charms customers to want to experience the enjoyment of such a venue.

Location
The location is the upper west side of New York; this is a pleasant area with a diverse group of people. Four blocks from the Linton centre and ten minutes from the theatre district, this location ideally suits the restaurant, as it is a cultural and artistic image. The hotel des artistes has been there since 1917 and has been very popular since. According to George it has to have one of the highest percentages of regulars among restaurants in the world. Café Des Artiste remains a popular place in the neighbourhood, it also has the status of a destination restaurant among a renowned and habitually visiting clientele.
Interior
the walls of the interior are covered with murals painted by the illustrious Howard Chandler Christy who also bought an apartment in the mansion building when it first opened. The restaurant, which was below it, had also just opened.
The historical back round and decor was used to develop the concept and it has been accomplished well.
George Lang who was asked to step into improving the restaurant at a point where it was nearly deteriorating
Quotes:
“The trick was to build a new house but leave the old house there” George did exactly that and did a very good job of it.
